OPEN LETTER FROM BEN

Hello,

My name is Benjamin Roskoskey and I am running for the Rhinelander School Board as a write-in candidate. I was raised in Michigan by my public-school teacher mom, engineer dad, and attended college in the UP. My wife, Katie, moved here for her job in 2011 and I moved here the following year once we were married. I work both as a Civil Engineer for Indian Health Service and as an Officer in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where I deployed to Afghanistan in 2020.

My wife Katie and I have welcomed two daughters into the world. It is these life events that has most influenced my decision to once again run for the Rhinelander School Board. I have no way to tell if my children will take all AP classes or be two grade levels behind in reading, will be involved in football or the drama department, or will work a part-time job during the school year or volunteer regularly. I will ensure that all decisions that I make as a School Board member will have the best interest of EVERY student, teacher, and community member in mind.

I am concerned that not enough is being done to plan for the long-term well-being of our school district and our children. We need to be looking towards the future, not back at the past, for inspiration and direction. As a member of the School Board, I will always work hard to put the needs of the children first and ensure that no children are forgotten about.

Thank You,

Benjamin Roskoskey
